Global Chat
The site-wide live chat room: who can use it, mentions, muting, reporting, and how the automatic moderation works.
Global Chat is the live, site-wide chat room. It runs in a panel you can pop open from any page, and it has its own full page with extras like mentions and community highlights.
Where to find it
- Direct link: /chat/
- Menu path: Talk - Global Chat
- The floating chat toggle appears on most pages. It hides itself automatically while you are playing Tag or Snake Royale, and while the pet sidebar, search, or notifications panel is open.
- You can turn the toggle off permanently in your account settings.
Who can chat
- Chat is not available to players under 13. Reading and posting are both off for those accounts.
- Anyone else can post, subject to the limits below.
Limits
- One message every 10 seconds.
- Messages are capped at 500 characters.
- Chat history is kept for 30 days.
Mentions
Type @username to mention someone. Mentioned players get a notification, and the chat page has a Mentions tab listing every message from the last 30 days where someone typed your name, with unread ones marked.
Links to twitch.tv and other MiroPets pages turn into clickable links automatically.
Muting and reporting
- Mute any player to hide their messages from your view only. They are not told, and it does not affect anyone else.
- Report a message to send it to the moderation queue. You cannot report your own messages or an admin's.
- Blocking someone from your profile also hides their chat messages from you.
Automatic moderation
Every message is screened before it appears. Content that breaks the community guidelines escalates over a rolling 7-day window:
- First strike - a warning.
- Second strike - a 1-hour chat timeout.
- Third strike - a 24-hour chat timeout.
- Fourth strike - a permanent chat ban.
Timed-out players can still read chat, they just cannot post. Moderators can also delete messages, pin announcements, and issue timeouts or bans directly.
Community Highlights
The chat page shows the five messages your community reacted to most over the last 7 days, plus a list of everyone active in the last 15 minutes with friends marked.
Good habits
- Mute rather than argue - it is instant and nobody has to know.
- Use @mentions when you want a specific person to see something; the room moves fast.
- Trade offers get more traction on the Message Board or in Auctions, where they do not scroll away.
