Friends and Mail

Add friends, see who is online, and send private messages in threaded mail conversations.

Friends and Mail are how you keep up with other players: a friends list that shows who is online right now, and a private mail system built around threaded conversations.

Where to find it

  • Friends: /friends/
  • Mail: /mail/ (in the Talk menu, with an unread-count badge)
  • You can also message or friend someone straight from their profile.
  • While you have unread player mail, your Dashboard leads with an Unread Messages card showing the 3 most recent conversations - sender, subject and the start of the message. Open the mail and the card disappears until someone writes again.

Friends

  • Search for players by username (2 or more characters) and send a friend request. If someone declines, cancels, or removes you, no coins or items are involved - friendship is free.
  • If two players send each other requests, the second request auto-accepts the first.
  • Your list splits into Online and Offline. A friend counts as online if they were active in the last 5 minutes. Players who turn off "show online status" in their settings always appear offline, without a last-seen time.
  • From the list you can open a friend's profile, jump straight into a mail message, or remove them.
  • Inviting a brand-new player through your invite link makes you friends automatically the moment they verify their email - see Inviting Friends.
  • The Friends page is hosted by Pebble, a rainbow otter who keeps a lucky pebble for every friendship. Your personal invite link and your invite-reward progress are shown right on the page, so you can copy the link or claim rewards without leaving.

Mail

Mail works as conversations: you start one with a subject and a message, and all replies stay in the same thread.

  • Subjects are up to 255 characters; messages are up to 5,000 characters.
  • There is a short 5-second cooldown between sends to prevent accidental doubles.
  • Every message is automatically screened before sending - anything flagged as inappropriate is blocked and never delivered.
  • Emoticons like :) and <3 turn into MiroPets emote images - the full code list is in Global Chat.
  • Recipients get an email notification about new mail.
  • The recipient picker only shows players you are allowed to contact: blocked players and players with a friends-only private profile (who are not your friend) do not appear.

Automated notices — quest rewards, expedition returns, referral bonuses, staff announcements — are kept apart from mail, under the bell in the Talk menu and on the Notifications page. They clear themselves: opening the page a notice points at retires it, and opening the bell marks the rest read, so there is nothing to dismiss. You choose which of these arrive in the first place under Notification Settings.

When the team posts a staff announcement, it also opens once on your dashboard the next time you visit, so a big update is hard to miss. Closing it counts as reading the announcement — it will not pop up again, and the full text stays in your inbox. Only announcements from the last 7 days appear this way; older ones simply wait in your mail.

Gifts

Wrap something from your backpack and send it to a friend. Buy Gift Wrap (500 MPC, Corner Store or Odds & Ends Outlet), then tap Gift next to any friend on the Friends page, pick one item and add a short note. Your friend gets a notification and unwraps the parcel from their Backpack — the item only lands in their inventory when they open it, so a wrapped gift can't be sold or traded away first.

A few rules keep gifting friendly:

  • You need a verified email and the same level as trading, and you must have been friends for at least 7 days.
  • One gift per friend every 24 hours, and up to 5 gifts a day in total.
  • One item per parcel, never coins. Partially used items, listed or trade-locked copies, nests, vials, unlocks and event rewards can't be wrapped.
  • Notes are screened like mail, and players under 13 don't see notes.

Safety

  • Players under 13 cannot send or reply to mail. They still receive system notifications.
  • Blocking a player (from their profile, or by username in Account Settings) stops mail and friend requests in both directions and hides you from each other's searches.
  • Never share your password or personal details in mail. Report scams or harassment at /report.

Visiting each other's homes

Once you are friends you can invite them to your MiroHome. An invite is standing — they can visit whenever they like until you revoke it — and it lets them join you in the room live, chat, and feed their own pets from your fridge. Anyone can view your room; only invited friends can come inside.
