Pet Backgrounds
Buy pet card backgrounds once and apply them to any of your pets, from 500 MPC rares up to the 1,000,000 MPC Diamond Vault.
Pet Backgrounds are collectible art that replaces the plain backdrop behind your pet on its card. They are purely cosmetic - no effect on stats - and once you own a background it is yours forever and can be applied to every pet you have at the same time.

The collection and prices
There are currently 140 backgrounds, spanning themes from cozy indoor scenes to fantasy landscapes and deep space - including scenes lifted straight from MiroPets features such as the Garden, the Wardrobe's dressing room, the Aquarium, the Wiki's own signpost crossroads, a MiroHomes living room, Miss Plume's classroom at The School, the Parcel Bluff depot, the Steamvale Hot Springs from Expeditions, a booth at Bitey's, the MiroTown square at dusk, Pet Park's Meadow and a reading spot by the Little Library. Raccoon's Moonlit Alley was made for the Raccoon when it joined the game. Several were requested on the Road Map, including storm skies for the Storm pets, a mountain ledge for goats, a honeycomb hive, jungle, savanna and tree-hollow habitats for wild pets, a soccer pitch, Dutch tulip fields, a theme park, a coffee shop, a bowling alley, a swimming pool with lane lines, and a Halloween set of a moonlit graveyard, a haunted house, a vampire manor and a mummy's tomb:
- 9 common backgrounds are free and available to everyone from the start.
- 60 rare backgrounds cost 500-1,200 MPC each.
- 47 epic backgrounds cost 1,000-2,000 MPC each.
- 10 legendary backgrounds top the range: nine priced between 5,000 and 10,000 MPC, plus the Diamond Vault at 1,000,000 MPC - the single most expensive cosmetic in the game.
- 4 epic VIP backgrounds (VIP Royal Crest, VIP Velvet Lounge, VIP Golden Penthouse, and VIP Diamond Vault) cannot be bought at any price; they are included with VIP Membership for as long as you are a member.
- 1 legendary background, Confetti Party, cannot be bought at all: it is the 5-friend reward on the invite ladder and is the only way to own it.
- 6 epic backgrounds, Stained Glass, Prismatic Stained Glass, Obsidian Hollow, Obsidian Sanctum, Candyglass Grotto and Candyglass Palace, are MiroPass rewards and likewise cannot be bought.
- 1 legendary background, Between the Pages, is the reward for finishing Story Book II, The Map Between the Pages: claim the final chapter and the living map itself becomes a pet card background.
- 1 legendary background, Community Pond, was given to the 74 players who added fish to the Community Pond event in September 2026. The event is over, so it can no longer be earned.
Reward-only backgrounds never show a price on the page. Instead the tile says how to earn it (for example "Invite 5 friends", "MiroPass reward" or "Finish Story Book II"), and selecting one gives you a How to earn it button that takes you straight to where it is earned. Event rewards whose event has ended say No longer available.
Purchases happen right on the page with MPC. Each background is a one-time unlock - you never buy the same one twice, and the Shop filter only ever shows backgrounds you can still buy.
Applying backgrounds
- Choose a pet in the Choose a pet strip. Players with lots of pets get a search box to find one by name or species.
- The preview card shows that pet exactly as it looks everywhere else, including any Wardrobe outfit it is wearing, so you can judge how a background goes with the whole look.
- Tap any background to try it on. The card, name, rarity and price update straight away. Back to returns to the background the pet already has, so you can compare the two.
- Press Apply for one you own, or Buy & Apply to buy and apply in one step.
- Use Remove any time to return the pet to its default card.
Finding a background
- Backgrounds are grouped into Common, Rare, Epic and Legendary sections. Each section header shows how many of that rarity you own.
- All / Owned / Shop switches between everything, what you own, and what you can still buy with MPC.
- The rarity chips show just one rarity (or the VIP backgrounds).
- Search by name, or sort by Newest to see the latest additions first. Price and A to Z sorts are there too. Backgrounds added in the last two weeks carry a New tag.
Each pet stores its own choice, so you can give every pet a different look. Applying a background also counts toward daily quests that ask you to change a pet's background.
Beyond pet cards
Backgrounds you own work well beyond the pet card. Any of them can also be set as the storefront header of your My Shop page, as the banner of a den you lead, and as the header banner on your own profile - so one good background can dress up your pets, your shop, your den and your profile all at once.
Good habits
- Start with the 9 free commons - they cost nothing and cover the basics like meadows, skies, and ponds.
- Since one purchase covers all your pets forever, a 500 MPC rare you love is better value than it looks.
- Preview before buying an expensive one: the preview shows your actual pet on the card, so you can check that a bright pet does not wash out on a bright scene.
- The Diamond Vault is a long-term prestige goal; the 5,000-10,000 MPC legendaries deliver most of the flash for a fraction of the price.
