Take 1 free book per day from a shelf of 5 that refreshes every 2 hours. Donating a book earns your active pet 50 XP and 10 happiness.
The Little Library works on a simple promise: take a book, leave a book. Free books appear on the shelf all day, and donating your own books directly rewards your active pet. After you claim a book, the shelf offers a Read it to … button that opens the reading section of a pet that can still learn today, so the free book turns into Intelligence in one more tap.

How claims work
Current live settings:
- The shelf holds 10 books, refreshed every 2 hours (on even hours).
- Each shelf slot rolls rarity: 79% common, 15% rare, 5% epic, 1% legendary - so a rare or epic book shows up regularly if you keep checking, and once in a long while a legendary lands on the shelf.
- You can take 1 book per day. The daily limit resets at midnight MiroPets Time.
- Want another? A Library Card (1,500 MPC at The Dusty Tome and RARE Finds) adds one extra borrow for the day. Use it from your Backpack and it takes you straight to the shelf. One card per day, and the extra borrow is gone at midnight if you do not use it. Once you have taken your free book, the shelf shows a reminder if you are holding a card.
- Stock is first come, first served, and you need a free Backpack slot.
Donated books from other players appear on the shelf too, marked with the donor's name, and stay available for 48 hours.
Donating books
Donate any book from your Backpack and your active pet immediately earns 50 XP and 10 happiness. There is no limit on donations, which makes cheap books one of the most reliable XP sources in the game - a stack of common books converts straight into pet growth. Donated books stay on the shelf for 48 hours for others to take.
The page tracks your lifetime Books Taken and Books Donated, and the Recent Activity section shows the latest books taken and donated as cards - the book's art and rarity, who took or donated it, and how long ago.
Using books well
- Books are use items - most grant pet XP or happiness when read. Check the effect label on the shelf before picking.
- Set the pet you want to grow as your active pet before reading or donating - both reward the active pet.
- With 12 shelf refreshes a day but only 1 claim, browse a few refreshes before spending your daily take on a common book. An epic book is worth waiting for, and a legendary is a drop-everything moment.
- Buy spare books cheaply at The Dusty Tome and donate them for the 50 XP - it is often better value than reading them.
Which pet should hear it?
Not sure who the book is new for? The Reading Nook in the Pets menu shows every pet's unread books, including the one you just claimed, and reads it with one tap.
