Happenings

Little scenes that find you while you play: someone needs a hand, your pet finds something, a mishap you can do something about. You decide what happens, and nothing expires while you are away.

Happenings are little things that find you while you play MiroPets. Someone in town needs a hand, your pet finds something in the mud, a cobblestone rocks underfoot, a coin pouch gives up at the seam. Each one is a short scene with a decision, and what you decide is what happens. There are 24 different Happenings at the moment, and every one is re-rolled with a different pet, character, shop, item or amount each time it turns up.

How they find you

  • They are earned by playing. A Happening can only turn up after you have done at least 3 real things since the last one: fed or played with a pet, finished a game, bought something, trained at the Gym, cooked. Refreshing pages does nothing.
  • They arrive on quiet pages. You meet a Happening on the way to the Dashboard, My Pets, Today in MiroPets, your Backpack, Mail, Notifications, Friends, the Board, the Newspaper, Charms or your Journal. They never interrupt a game, a shop, an auction, a trade or the Arena.
  • They keep their distance. At most 2 a day, at least 6 hours apart. VIP members get up to 3 a day, 4 hours apart.
  • The same one does not come back for 21 days, so a player who logs in every day keeps meeting new ones.
  • Brand-new accounts are left alone for the first 2 days, and mild mishaps never happen to an account under 7 days old.

Deciding

Every Happening offers two to four choices. Some need something from your backpack (a snack, a toy, a grooming item, one particular medicine or ingredient); the picker shows exactly what you own and how many. There is always at least one choice that needs nothing at all.

Not now is always available. The Happening waits on your Dashboard and on the Happenings page for as long as you like. Nothing expires while you are away, and nothing bad happens for ignoring one.

Some choices finish out in the world rather than on the page:

  • A misplaced parcel is delivered the moment you walk into the shop it is addressed to. The reward is waiting on the counter.
  • Sous's missing ingredient waits until you come back with one.
  • A startled pet settles when you reach the quiet place you chose.
  • Dr. Harris's free clinic takes an unwell pet for about 6 hours and sends you a message when it is better.

Your pet is in it

Happenings pick one of your hatched pets at home (not at the Hotel, the Park, on an Expedition, at School or on an Adventure). Baby pets get their own version of the scene, a pet's favorite food changes what it craves, and an offered favorite is always noticed.

While a pet is unwell or muddy, its card on My Pets shows a chip and its page says what would fix it. Neither hurts the pet: an ailment passes by itself in about 24 hours and mud dries in about 12. Curing it sooner is faster and happier.

Ailments and the one medicine that cures each: The sniffles → Fever Fizz, A tummy ache → Bellyberry Relief, A tickly cough → Coughdrop, Itchy ears → Softleaf Ear Wipes, A bramble scratch → Bramble Balm Patch, A heat flush → Frostpetal Cooling Spray, A dizzy spell → Healixir. All of them are ordinary Healing Hut stock.

Grooming items that clean up a muddy pet: Brushy, Sparkling Shampoo, Hairbrush, Bubblesoap, Cloudsoft Grooming Mitt, Mudskip Paw Washer. The Park fountain works too, for free.

Mishaps, and why they are mild

About one Happening in five is a mishap (6 of the 24 at the moment), and every mishap comes with a way to respond:

  • A torn coin pouch spills at most 5% of the coins in your pocket and never more than 60 MPC in a day. Scrambling gets most of them back; letting your pet help gets all of them, and sometimes a few more. Only "let them go" loses the lot. Coins in the Bank are never touched.
  • A gust of wind only ever picks an ordinary item you own at least two of. Chasing it or sending your pet gets it back; only "let it go" loses it. Nothing rare, listed, locked, equipped or precious is ever at risk.
  • An unwell pet and a startled pet cost a few points of happiness at the start, and every choice pays that back.
  • A mishap is never your first Happening and never follows another mishap.

Remembering

Help a MiroTown character and they remember. Days later one of them may spot you across the street with a small follow-up, and a delivered parcel earns a proper thank-you. The Happenings page keeps a log of everything that has happened, what it paid, and which pet was there.

Charms

  • Something Happened (common): your first Happening.
  • Good Neighbor (rare): help ten different residents.
  • Home Remedy (rare): cure five ailments with the right medicine.
  • Sharp Eyes (rare): find twenty-five things on the ground.
