Goldfish Go Prismatic: A Rainbow for the Goldfish Family

The goldfish family has a new top fish. Starting today, the Prismatic Goldfish can hatch from a Fish Nest in the Aquarium. It's the sixth Prismatic morph, and the second of our weekly fish releases after last week's catfish.

It's a plump goldfish whose scales and long flowing tail shimmer in every color of the rainbow. Like every morph, it's never sold in a shop. You hatch one, or you trade with a player who did.

How to hatch one

Pair a legendary fish with an epic goldfish in a Fish Nest. The chance is 20%, or 40% in a Coral Fish Nest.

Goldfish have two epics, and either one works:

• Comet Goldfish, the white-and-gold morph with a sparkling comet tail.
• Lilypad Goldfish, the prize from The Community Pond event. If you earned one back then, it's ready to be a Prismatic parent right now.

No epic goldfish yet?

You can climb there from the shop shelf:

1. Pearlscale Goldfish (rare): nest two common goldfish. Classic and Bubble-Eye Goldfish are sold at Gill's Aquarium Shop. The chance is 35%, or 70% in a Coral Fish Nest.
2. Comet Goldfish (epic): nest any two rare or epic goldfish. The chance is 25%, or 50% in a Coral Fish Nest. The Fantail Goldfish is a rare that turns up at the Aquarium Shop too, so two Fantails can skip the first step.

A legendary paired with a rare goldfish also hatches a Comet.

Where legendaries come from

• Fishing. The Prism Arowana and the Moonlit Anglerfish are the two wild legendaries, found only as keepers at the Fishing Pond.
• Other players. Bagged legendaries show up in player shops and auctions, or you can trade for one.
• Your own Prismatics. Every Prismatic is legendary too. A Prismatic Koi, Betta, Angelfish, Seahorse or Catfish you've already hatched can be the legendary parent for a Prismatic Goldfish.

Good to know

• Nesting never uses up a parent. Both fish rest for a week, then they're ready to go again.
• Gill's Spring Tonic takes 3 days off a legendary's rest, so your wildcard can try again sooner. Each fish can have one tonic per rest, and you can use one tonic a day.
• Your tank has to be thriving (fed and clean) before fish will nest, and every 4th nest in a row without a hatch is guaranteed.
• The Fish Collection now has 63 species to discover, including 27 morphs.
