The Journal's First Big Update: Edit Any Entry, Fill In Missed Days, Moods and More

The Journal has been sitting quietly in the account menu since December: one page a day, and once midnight passed, that page was set in stone. Not any more. A Road Map idea asked for edit and delete buttons, and the Journal got its first big update today. It picked up a lot more than two buttons along the way.

Change anything, any time

• Edit or delete any entry, no matter how old. Entries you change later get a small "Edited" note.
• Missed a day? Tap it on the new calendar and write about it after the fact, all the way back to the day you joined.
• Emptying a page and saving deletes that day, so there are no blank pages hanging around.

A calendar for your whole year

The writing desk now sits beside a calendar that marks every day you have written, with that day's mood. Flip back with the arrows, or tap the month name to jump straight to any month you have written in. If a month is empty, the page points you to your nearest entry, so older writing never gets lost.

There is also a search box that finds a word across every entry, and an On this day card that brings back what you wrote a week, a month, six months or a year ago.

Moods, pets and ideas

• Pin one of eight moods to each entry, drawn with the same emotes you use in chat.
• Tag the pet an entry is about under About a pet? Type a name or species to find them fast, and their picture shows on the entry.
• Stuck for words? The Need an idea? box has a new writing prompt every day, and some are about your own pets. Press Another until one clicks.
• The emote picker works in your entries too.

Your journal, your call

The Journal tools box can now download every entry as a text file. Want a fresh start? Delete all entries clears the pages but keeps your Journal. Remove Journal still takes it off your account entirely, for anyone who would rather not have one.

Your unsaved writing is also kept on your device if you switch days or lose your connection, so a half-finished entry is never thrown away.

Don't have a Journal yet?

It is a one-time unlock. Buy one, open your Backpack, press Use on it and read it to any pet. The Journal page shows where one is for sale right now, and Findley can watch for a restock when the shelves are empty.
