First Edition Eggs: Adopt a Pet Nobody Has Ever Owned

First Edition Eggs: Adopt a Pet Nobody Has Ever Owned

August 18, 2026 | 172 views | 5 comments

Deep in the adoption records there is a short, strange list: pets that exist, have names, have egg art on file — and have never once been adopted. Not by anyone. Some are humble commons. Some are epics in pirate hats. All of them have spent their whole lives waiting on a shelf that nobody happened to check.

Until 1 September, that changes. Welcome to First Edition Eggs.

What Is a First Edition?

A First Edition egg is a pet that no player in all of MiroPets owns. Adopt one and you become its first-ever owner — and until another player hatches the same pet, yours is genuinely one of a kind. Your pet page, your den, your Best Dressed entry: the only one anywhere.

To be clear about what you are getting: the moment a second player hatches the same pet, yours stops being unique. But it never stops being first — and nobody can take that away.

How to Spot One

Head to the Adoption Center. While the event runs you will see a banner up top, and any never-owned egg on the shelves wears a First Edition badge with a rose-gold glow.

They are not there every hour. Each hourly restock has roughly a one-in-four chance of guaranteeing a First Edition on the board, and now and then the ordinary shuffle surfaces one by pure luck. The page has a countdown to the next restock — hourly visitors will be rewarded.

Fourteen Remain

Sixteen pets started the event. The very first — a brown fox — was claimed within minutes of the shelves going up, and two more followed in the first hours. As we go to print, fourteen remain: four commons, six rares and four epics. No legendaries — those are found by other means, as ever.

And no, we are not printing the list. Half the fun is the moment the badge catches your eye.

Gone Means Gone

Every claim removes that pet from the event permanently — the pool only shrinks. If all fourteen find homes before 1 September, the event simply ends early, and the paper will run the obituary for the shelf. Do not wait for a rerun; first only happens once.

Otherwise, First Editions are perfectly normal eggs of their rarity: you need a nest from the Nesting Nook, your usual 12-hour adoption cooldown applies, and the pet needs a unique name like any other. Full details on adoption live in the Adoption Center wiki page.

Kara, the adoption coordinator, put it best: "Every one of these eggs has been waiting for a first hello. I would quite like to see the shelf empty, if I am honest."

Update, August 29: every First Edition egg has found its first owner, so the event has ended and the badge is retired. Thank you to everyone who gave a never-adopted pet its first home.
