Snapshot Safari

Photograph critters peeking out of the meadow. 5 frames of film a day, snap when the focus ring is tightest, and every critter you catch on film goes in your Album. Rarer critters and sharper shots pay more, up to 180 MPC a frame before bonuses.

Snapshot Safari is a quick wildlife-photography game. Something is rustling in the meadow; load a frame, wait for the critter to peek out, and snap when the focus ring is tightest. The critters are MiroPets themselves, and every one you photograph goes in your Album.

Where to find it

How a frame works

  1. Press Load Frame. One of the five hiding spots (the bush, the hollow log, the boulder, the tall grass, or the tree stump) starts to rustle. Loading a frame uses one frame of film straight away.
  2. After 1.5 to 4 seconds the critter pops up and a focus ring appears around it. The ring breathes in and out: tight means sharp, loose means blurry.
  3. Tap SNAP (or tap the scene, or press Space) when the ring is at its tightest. The critter only stays up for about 2.2 to 3.2 seconds; if you wait too long it wanders off and the frame pays the minimum of 5 MPC.
  4. Your photo develops and you see the critter's name, species, rarity, and how sharp the shot was.

Sharpness and pay

Each frame pays a coin amount set by the critter's rarity, multiplied by how sharp your shot was:

  • Perfect (sharpness 90% or better): 1.5x
  • Great (70% or better): 1x
  • Good (40% or better): 0.75x
  • Blurry (anything below that, or a snap taken while the critter is mid-hop): 0.25x

Critter rarity sets the base amount:

  • Common (55% of sightings): 15-25 MPC
  • Rare (27% of sightings): 30-50 MPC
  • Epic (13% of sightings): 60-90 MPC
  • Legendary (5% of sightings): 120-180 MPC

Later frames get trickier

Each day's film is played as a session of 5 frames. Frames 1 and 2 are plain. From frame 3 the ring breathes faster, and on frames 4 and 5 the critter hops to another hiding spot part-way through. The brackets and ring follow it. A snap taken during a hop is always Blurry, so wait for it to settle.

The Album

Every critter you photograph is added to your Album at the bottom of the game page, grouped by species with your best shot quality. Grey silhouettes are critters you have not photographed yet.

  • The first photo of a critter pays a +10 MPC new-entry bonus.
  • Photographing every critter in a species pays a one-time 250 MPC set bonus and a notification.
  • There are 1121 critters across 32 species. Some are retired or special pets that cannot be adopted any more, so the Album is the only place to see them up close. The game leans toward showing you critters you have not photographed yet.

Bonus finds

On any Perfect, Great, or Good frame there is a 4% chance of finding a common or rare item in the bushes. It goes straight to your backpack.

Film and limits

  • 5 frames of film a day, reset at midnight MPT. VIP members get 7.
  • Film is spent when you load the frame, not when you snap. Closing the page with a frame loaded does not refund it; come back within a minute and the same frame resumes.
  • Out of film? A Roll of Safari Film (250 MPC at the Corner Store, RARE Finds) reloads a full roll for today, and you can use it right from the game page. It works at most twice a day.
  • Snapshot Safari is in the Featured Game rotation, so on its day every frame pays double and the Best Photo Sessions board pays the Spotlight Prize ladder.

Souvenirs

The Safari Camera toy is the game's own camera, sized for paws: +40 happiness with 5 uses, sold at the RARE Finds, Toy Chest.

Daily streak

Shooting on consecutive days builds a streak: +5% coins per day up to +50%, and every 7th day your first frame is free (it does not use any film). Missing a day resets the streak to 1.

Your pet

Your active home pet comes along behind the camera and earns +15 XP and +5 happiness on every frame you keep (anything but a wander-off).

Leaderboard

Finish all 5 frames in a day and your session total goes on the Best Photo Sessions board on the game page. It resets daily.

Tips

  • Watch the ring, not the critter. It goes from red (loose) to green (tight); snap on green.
  • The ring always reaches tight at least once while the critter is up, so there is no need to panic-snap the moment it appears.
  • On frames 4 and 5, let the critter finish its hop before you snap.
  • Open the Album now and then. Species you are close to finishing are worth chasing for the set bonus.
