The Aquarium Is Open — Now Your Pet Can Have a Pet

Every MiroPets player has spent months looking after somebody. Starting today you can look after somebody smaller. The Aquarium is now open: your own fish tank, stocked with fish you buy, hook or trade, kept fed and clean by you, and on show for the rest of the game to come and admire.

You will find it at The Aquarium, or under the Pets menu in the header.

Start with a bowl

Your first tank is the Starter Bowl — room for 5 fish and 3 decorations. There are two ways to get one:

• Pay 5,000 MPC on the Aquarium page. Instant, and always available.
• Use a Starter Bowl item, sold by Gill at the Aquarium Shop. It is fully tradable, so you can gift one to a friend who is just starting out, or hunt for a cheap one in player shops.

When five fish stop feeling like enough, the Small Tank holds 12 fish and 5 decorations for 15,000 MPC, and the Large Tank holds 50 fish and 10 decorations for 40,000 MPC. Upgrades go one tier at a time, and every fish and decoration comes with you.

Fish travel in bags

Buy a fish, hook a fish, trade for a fish — it always arrives in your Backpack as a bagged fish, water and all, exactly like carrying one home from a real pet shop.

That bag is the important part: a bagged fish is an ordinary item, so it can be sold in your shop, listed at auction, or handed to a friend. Add it to your tank and it starts swimming, takes a nickname if you give it one, and marks its species as discovered. Change your mind later and Move to Backpack scoops it back into a travel bag. It forgets its nickname on the way out, but your collection remembers the species forever.

Thirty-one species to find

There are 31 fish species in the water: 16 common, 9 rare, 4 epic and 2 legendary. The collection log on the Aquarium page keeps a card for every one you have met, and a mystery card — with a hint about where it comes from — for every one you have not.

Gill stocks common and rare fish on the hourly restock. The epics and legendaries are not for sale at any price; they come out of the Fishing Pond. Every catch that is not a miss carries about a 6% chance of also hooking a keeper, a bagged fish dropped straight into your backpack, and a perfectly timed catch improves those odds by half again. The better the fish you reeled in, the better the keeper can be — land the Legendary Whale and you are looking at the best legendary odds in the game.

Keeping a tank thriving

Fish never die in MiroPets. But a neglected tank is a gloomy one, and only a well-kept tank pays you back.

• Feeding — one pinch of Fish Flakes feeds every fish in the tank for 24 hours, and the Food meter drains as the day goes on. Use flakes from your backpack, or let the Feed button buy a pinch on the spot for 50 MPC. Hungry fish turn pale and mopey.
• Cleaning — the water clouds over across about four days. The Clean Tank button is free and instant.

A tank that is both fed and clean is thriving, and that is when the good part happens: once a day the Pet Visit button sends your active pet over to watch the fish, and they come away happier. A pet with a pet of their own.

Then show it off

Gill also sells plants, corals, castles and sunken treasure to fill your decoration slots. Once the tank looks the way you want it, it already has a public page of its own at miropets.com/aquarium/your-username, where visitors can watch your fish drift past with their nicknames on. A tank card sits on your profile as well, and the whole thing follows your profile visibility setting.
