Puckwaddle Opens the Rink: Air Hockey Is Live!
The Game Center just got a whole lot cooler. Air Hockey is now live for every player — real-time, head-to-head table action where you drag your paddle, smack the puck, and defend your goal against the AI or a real opponent. And presiding over the rink is a brand-new face: Puckwaddle, the helmet-wearing penguin who has been waiting his whole life for this table to open.
How a match works
Drag anywhere in your half — finger or mouse — and your paddle chases the spot. Faster strikes send the puck flying harder, angled hits bank it off the walls, and the round goal posts will punish a lazy shot. First to 7 goals wins. After every goal the puck resets with a quick countdown, and the player who conceded gets possession, so there is always a way back into a match.
Two ways to play
- Practice vs AI — an instant match against a computer opponent on Easy, Normal, or Hard. Harder opponents react faster and aim better, but every paddle on the table obeys the same speed limit. The AI never gets superpowers.
- Find an Opponent — queue up against another player for bigger rewards. If nobody shows within a minute, an AI stand-in jumps in so you are never stuck waiting.
Keep an eye on the Multiplayer Live box on your dashboard — when someone is in the Air Hockey queue, it will tell you exactly who is waiting for a challenger.
What you can earn
- Beat a real player: 40 MPC, plus a 25 MPC bonus for your first win against a real player each day
- Lose to a real player: 15 MPC for the effort
- Beat the AI: 20 MPC, and 8 MPC for a loss
- Air Hockey coins cap at 500 MPC per rolling 24 hours
- Your chosen pet earns XP too: 2 XP per goal you score, 10 XP for a win, 4 XP for a loss
And there is a badge on the line: your first win against a real player unlocks the rare Ice Breaker charm — a striker, a puck, and cracking ice, forever on your charm shelf.
Make the table yours
Pick from 8 free paddle colors before every match. Colors are purely cosmetic — every paddle has identical size, speed, and striking power — and if both players pick the same color, your opponent gets a contrasting outline so the table stays readable.
Grab a paddle
The rink is open right now in the Game Center — or head straight to Air Hockey and hit the ice. Full rules and tips live in the Air Hockey wiki article. Puckwaddle's advice for your first match: keep your paddle cool and aim for the corners.
