The Pond Overflows: You Beat a Week-Long Goal in Eight Hours, Then Doubled It

September 20, 2026 | 21 views | 0 comments

We gave the Community Pond a week. You filled it in an afternoon, and then you filled it again.

Eight hours to the goal

The pond opened on Friday morning with one shared target: 750 points in a week. Gill expected a slow, steady week. Instead, the first fish went in four minutes after the pond opened, the murky shape under the lily pads sharpened before lunch, and by 4:46 PM MPT the same day the goal was gone. Under eight hours, start to finish.

That is when the Lilypad Goldfish surfaced, and every player who had added a fish found one waiting in their backpack with a note from Gill.

Then you doubled it

With six days still on the clock, we set a stretch goal: reach 1,500 points and everyone who helped gets a second Lilypad Goldfish, one for the tank and one to sell, trade or gift.

That one lasted until Saturday evening. At 7:55 PM MPT the pond tipped past 1,500, about 35 hours after it opened, and the second fish went out to everyone.

The pond by the numbers

  • 1,529 points, more than double the original goal
  • 989 fish added to the water
  • 74 players pitched in, and every one of them took home two Lilypad Goldfish
  • 987 points landed on the first day alone
  • 827 common, 153 rare and 9 epic fish went in. The commons did the heavy lifting: more than half of all the points came from one-point fish
  • The most generous species were the Whiskered Catfish, Panda Catfish and Sunny Guppy, with more than 60 of each
  • 14 players joined with a single fish, which is exactly how it was meant to work. One fish made you part of it

A special thank-you to becca, sukaiz89 and vegafire, who each poured more than 100 points into the pond on their own.

The pond is now closed

The pond was due to stay open until Friday, but there is nothing left to fill. Both goals are met and both fish are out, so we have closed the Community Pond early and taken the event card off your dashboard. Any bagged fish still in your backpack are yours to tank, sell or trade as usual.

What happens to the fish

The Lilypad Goldfish is an event fish. It will not turn up on a fishing line or on Gill's shelves, so the ones handed out this week are the only ones there are. If you have a spare, it is yours to keep bagged, gift to a friend or put up for sale. If you missed the pond and are hunting for one, Findley will know who is selling.

Thank you

This was our first community event of this kind, and you went through it far faster than we planned for. That tells us two things: you like building something together, and next time the goal needs to be a lot bigger.

Gill is already looking at the water and wondering what else is down there.
